Sanja Hurem was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. Her educational background includes a BSc in Political Science and International Studies, post-graduate studies at the International Center of Photography (NYC), Theater and Installation Design at Teatro de Los Sentidos (Barcelona), and a Master of Fine Arts from Plymouth University (UK).


Over the past years she has shown her work in exhibitions around the world. Institutions and organizations she has exhibited with include the Angel Orensanz Foundation (NYC), the Zhou B. Art Center (Chicago), Peltz Gallery (London), CICA Museum (Gimpo, South Korea), Kreuzberg Pavillion (Berlin), Institue for Contemporary Art (Zagreb), Ionion Center for Arts and Culture (Kefalonia Island, Greece), and Santa Rosa Monastery (Sardinia Island, Italy).

Sanja is currently based in Barcelona and frequently works in other cities. She is the Head of Strategy for BecomeBecome, a non-profit network organizing nomadic residencies and exhibits that emphasize a transparent, holistic and transdisciplinary approach to art making.
